Born in The Netherlands and based in Ireland, Anita Groener is an established artist who makes paintings, drawings, film and animation that she exhibits in
ternationally. Her work is routed through a transcultural perspective and grounded in drawing where she weaves together a continuum of thinking, developing and making, asking what it is to be human within current geopolitical realities, while focusing on specific events, their archetypal and psychological resonances. 
Recent exhibitions include Citizen | Butler Gallery Kilkenny, Ireland; Taboo | Poggiali & Forconi Gallery Florence, Italy; Art on Paper, New York City, USA with Gibbons & Nicholas; Point B | Williamsburg NYC, USA; Second Drawing festival | Witteveen Visual Arts Centre Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Amsterdam Drawing with Witteveen Visual Arts Centre; The Future Perfect | We Are Here, Rubicon Projects, Brussels, Belgium; At The Still Point, Irish Women Artists working in Film, Kilkenny Arts Festival; I Am Always Touched By Your Presence Dear, Irish Museum of Modern Art Dublin; Into Irish Drawing | Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris, France; All About Drawing | 100 Dutch artists, Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, The Netherlands. In 2005 she was elected a member of Aosdána, the cultural body which recognises major, sustained contribution to the arts in Ireland. She taught until 2014 at the Dublin Institute of Technology where she also served as the Head of Fine Art from 2004-2006. In 2014 the artist was selected by Facebook San Francisco to participate in their Facebook AIR (Artist In Residence) Programme undertaking and completing a commission within the company’s EMEA Headquarters in Dublin.
